| Job Summary: The Director, Center for Leadership in Education (CLE) position is designed to develop and deliver credit and non-credit leadership programs for administrators, teachers and students in elementary and secondary schools. Included in the duties are program development, budget creation and oversight, adjunct faculty recruitment and supervision and development, and service as a liaison between the Center and public/private schools and other educational entities. This position is also expected to teach a minimum of three (3) courses in Education and/or Leadership Studies each academic year, and coordinate the Master's of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies graduate program. The Center for Leadership in Education is a cooperative initiative of the School of Continuing Studies (SCS) and the Jepson School of Leadership Studies. Note: This position is a 12-month, non-tenure track administrative appointment. This is a staff position with possible faculty status contingent on action of the faculty. Qualifications and Skills: Knowledge of the principles of adult education, particularly the area of educational leadership. Knowledge of higher education policies and practices. Knowledge of curriculum development and practices. Knowledge of leadership studies curricula and programs. Ability to successfully administer graduate education programs.Ability to develop and administer budgets for education programs.Ability to successfully and effectively administer adjunct faculty and staff personnel. Essential Functions DEVELOP/DELIVER PROGRAMS IN EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP (30%): Research needed programs in Educational Leadership, working with educational leaders and staff. Recommend and implement plans for programs as needed. Develop Educational Leadership programs, both credit and non-credit for educators at the elementary and secondary levels. Deliver Educational Leadership programs to educators through lectures, seminars and professional meetings. Support staff and associated faculty/presenters in the development and delivery of programs. COORDINATE THE M.Ed. IN EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP & POLICY STUDIES PROGRAM (25%): Monitor, research and evaluate the M.Ed. program in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies for academic integrity and rigor, and compliance with accreditation standards of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), University of Richmond, and the Virginia Department of Education. Administer programs on a daily basis, to include evaluation and interview of potential graduate students. Serve as academic advisor to students in the M.Ed. curriculum. Recommend adjunct faculty who provide instruction in the program. Research and update M.Ed. curriculum; provide support and assistance to program faculty. Ensure program standards meet professionally accepted standards and practices. Attend professional conferences, seminars, and workshops designed to improve program quality and academic rigor. Work with SCS staff and University officials on admissions, registrations, financial aid and financial matters. ADMINISTER DAILY OPERATIONS OF THE CLE (25%): Staff the CLE with appropriate support and professional employees. Provide administrative oversight for staff, faculty and presenters on a daily basis. Comply with SCS and Human Resource requirements for performance evaluations, leave and time approvals and other necessary personnel actions. Oversee daily operations of the CLE. DEVELOP AND OVERSEE BUDGETS (10%): Generate opportunities for and write grants and contracts to develop revenue sources for the operation of the Center. Maintain existing grants and contract collaboration with area school divisions, universities, and business partnerships. Develop other sources of income through self-sustaining courses, seminars and workshops that provide resources/income for the Center. Develop an annual budget for the operation of the Center for Leadership in Education. Administer and oversee the CLE budget, working closely with SCS staff and deans. Develop and administer budgets for courses, seminars and similar programs conducted by the CLE. TEACHING & SERVICE (10%): Teach three courses, in the M.Ed. in Leadership program or the Jepson School of Leadership Studies per academic year. Serve on University and SCS academic committees. Provide other services to the SCS and University of Richmond Department of Education, as required. Maintain professional currency in the areas of service by the CLE. | Under the direction of the Vice Provost for Student Affairs, the Director of Student Affairs Assessment, Research and Retention will be charged with developing a culture of evidence of student learning and development by conducting systematic research and assessment of Student Affairs programs and services at the Division level and providing hands-on assistance with unit level assessment.
