Origins
In 1997, the Council for the Advancement of Higher Education Programs (CAHEP) began as a standing committee of the Association for the Study of Higher Education. Its primary purpose is to enrich the teaching and learning experiences of students and faculty in the Association's constituent Higher Education programs. At the beginning of each annual ASHE meeting, program chairs and interested Association members meet to discuss current issues and concerns focused on higher education programs. To facilitate greater exchange among program coordinators, faculty, students, and other interested members of the Association and externally, CAHEP maintains a searchable database of higher education programs throughout the United States/Canada which is available under the directory link.
