ASHE HBCU Day

ASHE, with generous support from the Lumina Foundation, will host HBCU Day on Wednesday, November, 14th, from 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. ASHE will sponsor a screening of “Tell Them We Are Rising: The Story of Black Colleges and Universities.” The screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring HBCU leaders. The panel discussion will focus on how HBCU Presidents lead and promote postsecondary attainment despite discourses that question their relevance. The second panel will feature ASHE scholars whose research expertise focuses on HBCUs. These scholars will discuss their own experiences as students at HBCUs, their research agenda on HBCUs and translate those findings for the larger audience of attendees. We will host approximately 400 high school students for the series and an HBCU College Fair. We are recruiting interested ASHE members to facilitate workshops, host tables during the HBCU College Fair, and provide general assistance throughout the day to make it a success.
