Policy Analyst
The Student Success Through Applied Research (SSTAR) Lab, a research-practice partnership within the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Division of Enrollment Management (DEM), provides technical assistance and evaluation services to support various student success initiatives. This is a two-year, grant-funded position. This position may be converted to an on-going, renewable position if continued funding is available.

The position will work on a team to carry out two research projects:
  • one evaluation of a scholarship program; and
  • one study of public financing strategies to support student success.

The person in this position should have expertise in higher education finance and policy, as well as data science skills related to data management and analysis. This position will work closely with financial aid and admissions professionals, external partners, and campus stakeholders in a collaborative and dynamic environment.

Requirements
  • Master's degree in higher education, education administration, education policy, or social science discipline
  • Expertise in database management, particularly managing administrative data.
  • Experience managing complex research projects in a team environment.
  • Ability to work across multiple team settings including university administrators, external partners, graduate students, and faculty.
  • Interest in linking research, policy, and practice.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Ability to think strategically and manage multiple project workflows.
  • Working knowledge of college access, student success, and/or student financial aid policies and practices.
  • Affinity and familiarity with multiple research methods and software programs.
