Visiting Assistant Professor
The Department of Educational Policy & Leadership at the University at Albany, State University of New York, invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor with specialization in Higher Educational Administration and/or Comparative & International Education. The Department seeks diverse candidates with a strong research and teaching record related to one of the following areas: student affairs, student assessment, and/or retention/persistence, leadership and organizational development, learning across the lifespan, and global, comparative or international education.

The successful applicant will engage with colleagues whose interests and work span pre-K to post-graduate education, domestic and international education, and who prepare students to be innovative scholar-leaders in local, national, and global problems in education across the lifespan. The department is looking for applicants who bring unique perspectives to the study of higher education and/or comparative education, including those who draw from experience and interests in diverse groups and/or diverse educational settings.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
 
  • Publishing and obtaining funding to support research into higher education and/or comparative and international education
  • Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses (in-person, online, or hybrid), including departmental core courses and courses in organizational leadership and development, higher education administration, student affairs, student assessment, retention/persistence, and/or comparative and international education (two courses per semester).
  • Advising masters and doctoral students.
  • Contributing to recruitment activities, including developing strong connections to administrators in colleges and universities and policy institutes.
  • Serving on department, school, and university committees.

Requirements Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • An earned doctoral degree from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization completed by January 2022 as evidenced by graduate transcript(s).
  • Candidates must have an active research program in higher education administration with attention to student affairs, student assessment, retention/persistence, and/or comparative or international education as evidenced by scholarly and professional publications and/or external funding.
  • Candidates must also have a strong teaching record in content applicable to student affairs, student assessment, and/or retention/persistence, leadership and organizational development broadly relevant to practice, learning across the lifespan, and comparative & international education.
  • Applicants must address in their applications their abilities to work with a culturally diverse population.


Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • Expertise in organizational analysis and development
  • Experience in higher education administration.
