Assistant Professor in Higher Education
The Austin W. Marxe School of Public and International Affairs at Baruch College invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Higher Education. The areas of research within higher education are open. However, preference will be given to applicants with specialization in one or more of these areas:
  • history of higher education;
  • student affairs;
  • management; or
  • social justice

The successful candidate must have demonstrated ability to teach courses in the Master of Science in Education in Higher Education Administration degree program (MSEd-HEA) to a diverse student body. The candidate may also be asked to teach core or elective classes in their area of expertise in one of the School’s other degree programs. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the Higher Education program and advise students, as well as participate in School committees and perform other forms of service to the School and College.

Baruch College of the City University of New York is a public, urban institution with an enrollment of approximately 20,000 students. Within that context, The Marxe School offers undergraduate (BSPA) and graduate-level degrees in public administration (MPA), higher education administration (MSEd-HEA) and international affairs (MIA). The Marxe School also houses cutting-edge policy research programs including the CUNY Institute for Demographic Research, the New York Federal Statistical Research Data Center, and the Center for Non-Profit Strategy and Management. Given one of the largest public affairs faculty in the nation and our interdisciplinary approach to teaching, research, and professional development, the Higher Education Administration (HEA) program provides an opportunity for faculty and students to connect with the more comprehensive worlds of public and international affairs.

Requirements Qualifications:
  • An earned Ph.D. or equivalent degree in higher education or related field prior to the teaching start date for the fall 2022
