Senior Evaluation Associate
The Hope Center is seeking a Senior Evaluation Associate who will provide comprehensive senior-level coordination and management of the day-to-day evaluations to examine promising practices for #RealCollege students.

Activities will include:
 
  • designing and planning evaluations
  • overseeing general data collection
  • serving as an authoritative source on evaluation practices, precedents, theory, and principles

Most studies involve randomized-control trials and will be multi-sited, longitudinal studies utilizing multiple data sources and collaboration with both colleges and external agencies. All will be high-profile externally funded activities.

Working with the Director of Evaluation, Director of Research, and the Senior Director of Research and Evaluation, the candidate will be responsible for navigating human subjects approvals and preparing deliverables for funders. They will lead data cleaning, coding, and statistical programming and/or qualitative data collection, coding, and analysis activities as well as may supervise junior researchers on these tasks. The candidate will also work on translating findings for multiple audiences through writing and engagement with other team members. Delivering presentations, seminars, media interviews nationally are also part of the role.

Requirements Required Education & Experience:
 
  • Master's degree in economics, sociology/demography, political science, psychology, statistics, or educational policy and experience conducting quantitative, qualitative, and/or mixed methods research and analyzing and interpreting the results.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:
 
  • Strong applied research skills and ability to design, plan and conduct research activities and serve as an authoritative source on research practices, precedents, theory, and principles.
  • Strong quantitative skills, including use of experimental and/or quasi-experimental research designs
  • Strong programming skills in Stata, SAS, and/or R (at least 5 years)
  • Strong writing skills and demonstrated ability to present research in an accessible manner
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work with a diverse population
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, along with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to monitor the work of others and provide training, regular feedback, and performance management

Preferred:
 
  • Exemplary qualitative skills, including in-depth interviewing and focus groups and multi-method experience
  • Experience overseeing the work of graduate and undergraduate students
  • Research experience studying higher education and applying research for policy analysis, program evaluation, and planning
  • Experience working on higher education topics or those related to the Center’s work on food and housing insecurity
  • Experience working directly with colleges and universities on research; public institutions preferred
  • PhD
