Professor, Associate/Assistant Professor
The Minnesota State System is actively working to advance the goals outlined in Minnesota State Equity 2030 including enhancing access and student success, providing Minnesota with the talent it needs, and anchoring the communities and regions we serve. The successful candidate will enhance student access and success by teaching, advising, and coordinating the MS in Experiential Education program through a lens of racial equity and social justice. The candidate will contribute to an excellent student experience by advising and supporting graduate students using a holistic approach.

A typical faculty workload responsibility may include up to eighteen (18) credits of instruction per academic year.

The successful candidate may need to teach in other areas as assigned and qualified.

May be expected to develop and deliver face-to-face, hybrid, and on-line instruction at the Mankato campus, online, and/or at the university’s additional locations, as assigned.

The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues in curriculum design, instruction and evaluation, conduct research productively and mentor students in research, help create innovative strategies for student recruitment, retention, and completion, and may be expected to develop external grant funding opportunities.

All faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly or creative activity or research, in continuing preparation and study, in contributing to student growth and development, and in providing service to the university and community (See Article 22 and Appendix G of the IFO Master Agreement).

Teach core and elective courses in the MS in Experiential Education program including those focused on philosophy, teaching methods, leadership, guiding reflection, and research.

Coordinate the MS in Experiential Education program including promotion & recruitment, admissions, curriculum, reports, and communications via website, listserv, social media, and other avenues.

Advise graduate students.

Supervise capstones, portfolios, and independent learning experiences.

Provide oversight and mentor a teaching assistant for introductory undergraduate course in experiential education.

Requirements Master’s degree in Experiential Education, Recreation, Education, or closely-related field by date of appointment.

At least one full calendar year of leadership or coordination experience in an academic setting.

At least 2 additional years (24 total months) of professional experience in occupations that exemplify experiential education modes of learning, teaching, leading, and facilitating. Such modes include but are not limited to problem/inquiry-based learning, service-learning, place-based learning, expeditionary learning, outdoor leadership, environmental education, and adventure education.

Demonstrated ability to teach courses/seminars within the program curriculum, both on campus and at additional locations.

Demonstrated ability to serve a diverse population and apply an equity lens to this position including social justice and/or anti-racism.
