Postdoctoral Scholar Position at University of Southern California
The University of Southern California’s Pullias Center for Higher Education is seeking to add a postdoctoral scholar to the Delphi Project on the Changing Faculty and Student Success research team to work on a two-year primarily quantitative project that will develop and test the survey research methods for a nationally representative study of postsecondary faculty funded by the National Science Foundation.

The postdoctoral position will lead project management for the research team, coordinating and documenting the research team’s activities, leading the collection of analysis of focus group data to inform instrument design, collaborating on the creation of survey messaging and instruments, and analyzing pilot data. The postdoctoral scholar will collaborate closely with qualitative and quantitative researchers from the Delphi project team as well as with data collection specialists. We are particularly interested in applications from candidates with expertise in postsecondary faculty, advanced survey methods, institutional data, institutional climate and college and/or college teaching practices.

Project activities will involve project coordination and management, quantitative instrument development, statistical analysis of quantitative pilot data, qualitative data collection and analysis, website content development, team collaboration, leading regularly held planning and project meetings, and writing up/disseminating findings for various practitioner and research audiences, including through a technical manual.

Requirements The candidate should have earned a doctorate by the time of employment. Ideal candidates will be adept at conducting rigorous, high quality and meaningful quantitative research with a particular emphasis on survey methods data collection and analysis; have familiarity with the literature on postsecondary faculty and the academic employment landscape; and have experience managing projects.
