Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, Higher Education
Description
The College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences at The University of Tennessee is seeking applicants for a Higher Education Administration open rank tenure-track faculty member to join the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies for a nine-month position beginning August 1, 2023. This position is a part of a four-person cluster hire of leading scholars with expertise in educational inequality across a range of programs.

Duties and responsibilities include:
  • Maintaining a cutting-edge scholarly research agenda, including actively seeking and securing external funding;
  • Supporting graduate programs in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies through teaching and advising;
  • Participating in professional associations at the local, state, regional, and national/international levels;
  • Providing services to the department, college, university, and other educational/professional organizations;
  • Collaborating with college and department faculty and staff, and students;
  • Having a strong commitment to the mission of the university, college, and department.

Requirements Qualifications

Required qualifications include:
  • An earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in higher education or other related fields by the date of hire;
  • Evidence to support expertise in qualitative research methodologies;
  • Demonstrated record of (full/associate professor) or potential for (assistant professor) high-quality research and securing external funding;
  • Evidence of (full/associate professor) or potential for (assistant professor) teaching excellence in graduate level programs;
  • Experience in (full/associate professor) or potential for (assistant professor) chairing dissertation/thesis committees;
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to shape equitable and inclusive experiences for diverse learners/audiences;
  • A willingness to plan/design, develop, and deliver instructions both in face-to-face classroom formats and via technology and the internet.

Preferred qualifications include:
  • Established scholarly record that addresses educational inequity;
  • Experience teaching graduate level courses;          
  • Experience with distance learning and teaching methodologies;
  • Demonstrated ability to work collegially with others, including faculty, staff, and students;
  • Interest and ability to work with other faculty on research questions related to educational inequities.
