Associate Director of University College
The University of North Carolina Wilmington is hoping to find an operation and system oriented professional, with strong management skills to serve as the Associate Director of University College (UC) at UNCW. UC is the first year academic advising center serving new students and select transfers from admission to major declaration. We manage Learning Communities, 2 three credit University Studies seminars, specialized advising and programmatic efforts for pre-professional, military, transfer, and First Year Spring Admits. We are very focused on persistence and retention, as articulated in the University’s Strategic Plan. In addition, we provide academic advising to approximately 4000 students. The office has 32 FTE and the Associate Director will supervise two Assistant Directors and manage operations related to advising and First Year Studies.

Requirements •Ph.D. preferred, in counseling, higher education or a related field
•Demonstrated ability to apply current best practices in student development theory when developing/modifying policies and practices
•Demonstrated ability to apply student development and enrollment management theories, and current technological tools to contemporary advising practices
•Current experience with the use of data in advising; experience in data analytics software preferred
•Demonstrated experience in developing and executing program level assessment to support strategic initiatives. •Demonstrated ability to develop and implement professional development experiences, aligned with the codified philosophy and curriculum of academic advising
•Demonstrated understanding of student learning process and curriculum and instructional design viewed through the lens of student development theory to support students in transitioning and adhering to the academic mission of the university.
•Teaching and/or course/classroom management experience within higher education
•Demonstrated skill in exceptional organizational and time management
•Demonstrated experience in effective project and/or program management
•Demonstrated skill in exceptional communication with on campus constituencies (e.g., staff, faculty, students, managers, etc.)
