Professorial Lecturer
The School of Education (SOE) at American University invites applications for a faculty member who will serve as a Senior Professorial Lecturer/Professorial Lecturer in the EdD and MEd Education Policy and Leadership programs at the School of Education. This is a term (non-tenure track) faculty appointment for the academic year 2020-2021, with potential for subsequent annual reappointment. This is a 12-month position and will commence in Fall 2020. With a focus on education leadership, policy analysis and implementation, and practical learning experiences, the EdD and MEd programs are strongly committed to the values of anti-racism, innovative partnerships, and practitioner knowledge.

The online EdD in Education Policy & Leadership launched in 2019, with a focus on systems change, personal leadership, anti-racism, and policy & research. The EdD program functions with a deeply embedded cohort model and culminates with students writing and presenting their dissertation of practice, focused on a problem of practice within their contextual and practical work. The MEd in Education Policy & Leadership program, which operates both in-person and online, prepares educators and other professionals to serve as leaders in education organizations. Students gain the knowledge and skills in leadership, policy, anti-racist approaches, law, economics, and research to effectively administer education programs and policies at all levels.

Over the calendar year, this faculty member will be expected to teach across the EdD online program and the MEd program, and advise students for the EdD.

Key responsibilities include the following:
- Teaching courses, reflective of anti-racist knowledge, literacies, and capacities, within EdD & MEd during 2020-2021 academic year
- Doctoral advising and mentoring students around EdD competencies, program of study and dissertations of practice
- Other responsibilities aligned with the EdD & MEd programs (participating inequitable admissions processes, program evaluation, etc)

Requirements - Applicants for this term faculty position should hold a Ph.D., Ed.D., or other terminal degree in education leadership, education policy, or other relevant field. Highly qualified applicants with all but dissertation in a field related to education will be considered.

- Candidates must have a belief in and commitment to anti-racism, within their practice, research, and/or teaching. Candidates will have experience and knowledge across some of the following: education leadership theory and practice, education policy analysis and implementation, improvement science and applied methods, or organizational change.
