Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor - Critical Higher Education Policy (Tenure-track)
The Department of Educational Foundations, Organizations, and Policy in The School of Education at the University of Pittsburgh seeks a full-time, tenure-stream assistant, associate, or full professor for the Higher Education program. We seek a higher education scholar who conducts critical, rigorous, theoretically grounded empirical research on higher education policy. This person would use interdisciplinary approaches and critical methodologies and theories to examine power relations in the reproduction of racial, class, and gender inequities, to name a few, in higher education and to address topics such as, but not limited to: critical analysis of policy levers and implementation; critical policy discourse analysis; racial justice and anti-Blackness in higher education policy; and the reproduction of inequities by higher education and policy actors.
The candidate would join a vibrant community in the School of Education, at a time of great excitement, synergy, momentum, and action, particularly in relation to our explicit commitment to equity and justice in education. As a School, we are committed to determining sustainable ways to disrupt and transform long-standing patterns of inequity and injustice in education. The School of Education recently reorganized to focus on three significant areas: Health and Human Development; Teaching, Learning, and Leading; and Educational Foundations, Organizations, and Policy. Pitt’s Higher Education offers MEd, EdD, and PhD degrees. Working collaboratively, the faculty have actively sought to advance equity and justice through teaching and learning, advising and mentoring of students, engaged collaborations, and scholarship. We seek to continue our momentum by having a scholar join the Higher Education faculty to: (1) advise master’s students in student affairs and doctoral students in higher education; (2) teach online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses; (3) contribute to curriculum design and redesign of higher education and student affairs graduate programs to ensure equity- and justice-centered approaches; and (4) contribute to the development of graduate programs across the Department of Educational Foundations, Organizations, and Policy.
