Executive Director/Assistant Dean of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
The College of Education and Human Development seeks a dynamic, forward-thinking, and collaborative leader to serve as the Executive Director/Assistant Dean of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The role is a full-time, 12-month position.

Reporting to the Dean, the Assistant Dean in a collaborative manner, will create, influence, and sustain a culture that promotes, fosters, and leads a community efforts focused on diversity, equity and, inclusion for the CEHD. The Executive Director/Assistant Dean will champion efforts with the college community toward recruitment, retention, and professional growth and development of students, faculty, and staff, especially those persons who identify with marginalized and unrepresented populations.

The Executive Director/Assistant Dean will partner with academic and administrative units to extend and deepen extant programs, projects, policies, systems and structures that improve the CEHD climate; will develop, coordinate, and communicate effective assessment tools for the continuous enrichment of programs and initiatives; and will collaborate with strategic community partners to amplify fundraising and grant opportunities for key strategic initiatives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Develops programs to build literacy around diversity, equity, and inclusion issues amongst students, staff, and faculty.
  • Serves as an advocate for traditionally underrepresented and first-generation students ensuring they connect with appropriate campus resources.
  • Serves on committees representing the DEI program and participates in short- and long-term planning.
  • Meets with students, staff, and faculty and other stakeholder groups to build support and engagement in DEI programs.
  • Works with student services staff to provide support for programs, including scheduling, logistics, developing content, materials, as needed.
  • Works with the Dean's leadership to develop materials (e.g., faculty search guidelines, guidance for candidates on diversity statements, materials to use during candidate interviews, evaluation rubrics) to support the faculty search process.
  • Serves as a resource for students, staff and faculty involved in faculty hiring.
  • Conducts evaluation and assessment on the effectiveness of faculty and staff search processes and tracks the outcomes over time.
  • Identifies and facilitates the implementation of new faculty recruitment and hiring that CEHD should consider adopting, based on updated literature, best practices, and experiences in other units and campuses.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors programming and strategies that help to retain faculty and staff recruited from diversifying strategies and efforts. Advises the Dean, Associate/Assistant Deans Department Chairs, faculty, and search committees on how to increase the diversity of ladder-rank faculty and professional faculty.
  • Provides consulting and advising to faculty members on how to create more inclusive classroom environment and anti-racist curriculum.
  • Has a background in community relations and capacity-building in regard to developing partnerships and relations with community-based organizations, volunteer programs, and non-profit organizations.

Salary: Grade EI. Salary Minimum $66,153; Mid-Range $92,172; Maximum $120,557.

Requirements Master's degree in Business or a related field and seven years of experience. Additional experience may be used on a one-to-one basis to offset the educational requirements.

Preferred experience in a higher education setting, working with students, staff, faculty, campus programs, units, and departments in the areas of diversity, inclusion, cultural competency, LGBTQ, social justice, gender studies, persons with disabilities, human rights, globalization, international learning, and multicultural programming.
