MSU UIA Fellow
The Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education (APUE) at Michigan State University, in collaboration with the University Innovation Alliance (UIA), is seeking candidates for the position of UIA Fellow. The UIA Fellow will work closely with university leadership at MSU and at partner UIA institutions as well as UIA Central to lead, support, and assess MSU and UIA student success initiatives to ensure all students can learn, thrive, and graduate. Specifically, the UIA Fellow will:

1) assist with the setting and implementation of the student success strategy on campus;

2) project manage and lead strategic student success initiatives on campus and across the UIA;

3) work with senior leaders at MSU and across the UIA institutions to identify, analyze, and find solutions for student success barriers;

4) assist in planning campus wide student success events;

5) support UIA Central initiatives, approximately 15% of the time;

Requirements Minimum Requirements

1) Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a master’s degree and five years of work experience in higher education or a related field
2) Commitment to undergraduate student success and unwavering passion to transform higher education to better serve marginalized students
3) Ability to proactively take initiative to design innovative approaches and solutions to student success problems
4) Demonstrated experience to lead or project manage within a complex organization like a higher education institution
5) Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
6) Demonstrated commitment to collaboration with diverse constituencies
7) Experience and comfort with working in ambiguity and demonstrated ability to creatively and rapidly iterate to solve problems

Desired Qualifications

1) Terminal degree in higher education, educational leadership, or a related field
2) Work experience in academic and/or student affairs at a large public institution
3) Experience and ability to work collaboratively and constructively with people at multiple levels and with diverse perspectives
4) Knowledge of current issues and innovative solutions related to marginalized student success in higher education
5) Past experience managing complex change initiatives in a collaborative and consensus building environment.
