Director of Strategic Research Initiatives
 The Director of Strategic Research Initiatives leads the System’s efforts to collect data and engage in strategic research on P12 issues that are relevant to the university system, including educator preparation, recruitment and retention of teachers and school leaders, teacher quality, laboratory schools, and other issues. The director is also responsible for leveraging partnerships between education faculty, researchers, practitioners, and stakeholders to collectively assess needs and identify evidence-based practices to better prepare educators and improve student achievement.

Requirements  Qualifications
  • A master’s degree in public policy, social science, or a related discipline is required.
  • A doctoral degree is preferred but not required. Minimum of 5 years of experience working in education research and program evaluation.
  • Experience with educator preparation and North Carolina PreK-12 public education preferred.
  • Deep familiarity with higher education policy, strategy, and practice. Strong leadership ability and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex research initiatives involving diverse constituencies.
