Assistant Professor Educational Leadership Higher Education Student Affairs (HESA)
The Department of Leadership and Counseling is seeking applicants for a tenure track faculty position with a specialization in student affairs to begin in August of 2021. 

The Higher Education and Student Affairs Program (HESA) program has a strong regional/national reputation and history dating back to 1967. We prepare higher education and student affairs practitioners with a strong focus on knowledge, skills, and dispositions, acquired through administrative/internship experiences designed to support a generation of leaders in the field. The program is guided by CAS standards as a framework to prepare future student affairs professionals with a passion for fostering student success and development. The program offers a flexible course schedule including several delivery formats (evenings, weekend, hybrid, and online). The faculty value excellence and innovation.

The successful candidate will serve an eight-month, tenure track appointment with summer employment contingent on student demand and funding. A competitive salary will be based on qualifications and prior experience with a tenure track appointment at the assistant professor rank. Starting date should be no later than August 29, 2021.

Requirements

Required qualifications include:

- an earned doctorate in higher education, educational leadership, or closely related field by August 2021

- prior professional experiences working and leading student affairs/higher education functional units

- demonstrated excellence in teaching at the university level (face-to-face, online, evenings, weekends) with preference for graduate-level teaching experiences

- promise and demonstrated skills to establish or continue with research agenda evidenced by publications

- engagement in the dissemination of research through conferences, presentations, or workshops

- interest and ability to supervise dissertation research and engage in doctoral level work

- demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and social justice

- strong orientation to collegiality and a collaborative approach

 


Desired qualifications:

- applications are encouraged from scholars with expertise and teaching interests within one or more of the following areas: ?student affairs, higher education, student development, policy, assessment and evaluation, higher education law, and quantitative research methodologies

- desire or demonstrated experience in advising and mentoring graduate students

- strong professional identity as evidenced by participation and/or leadership in professional

organizations (e.g., ASHE, ACPA & NASPA, ACUHO-I, etc)

- experience acquiring or pursuing external funding
