Department Head of the Department of Educational Leadership and Technology
 The College of Education at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana, invites applications for Department Head of the Department of Educational Leadership & Technology. The department head is the academic and administrative officer of the department, is a twelve-month employee, and must be eligible to hold the rank of associate or full professor in educational leadership. This position is responsible to the Dean of the College of Education and to the Provost and Vice-President for Academic Affairs. Success in filling assigned responsibilities requires an individual who understands the role of administration, accepts administrative authority and responsibility, and embraces and supports diversity amongst a dynamic group of professionals. In addition to administrative duties, the department head teaches two courses (six hours) in the fall and spring, and one course (three hours) in the summer. The department head must possess personal qualities such as people skills, openness, integrity, problem solving, negotiating, and leadership in decision-making. The department offers educational leadership programs at the masters and doctoral degree levels.

Requirements REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

-Doctorate in Educational Leadership or related discipline from an accredited university
-Successful four-year college/university teaching experience
-Record of scholarly achievement meriting appointment to associate or full professor
-Prior K-12 leadership experience such as school principal, assistant principal, district superintendent, or district chief administrative officer

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

-Successful experience with administrative work at the university level
-Experience as a department head or equivalent
-Experience with doctoral programs (e.g., program coordinator, dissertation chair)
-Experience with national accreditation (NCATE/CAEP) or regional accreditation (e.g., SACSCOC)
