The Belk Center for Community College Leadership and Research at NC State is transforming community college leadership in North Carolina and beyond. The Belk Center seeks to 1) prepare the next generation of executive leaders for North Carolina’s community colleges; 2) assist community college presidents and trustees in acquiring the knowledge and skills needed to achieve higher levels of student success at their colleges; and 3) conduct and disseminate research to support knowledge development and evidence-based decisions regarding community colleges, their leadership, and their performance.
This position will primarily work to develop and lead teams of researchers to produce internal and external reports specifically for community college stakeholders including community college presidents, policymakers, and practitioners.
Some travel may be required to engage with stakeholders for designing studies, collecting data, presenting findings, etc.
The postdoctoral research scholar will support analyzing data and writing reports, executive summaries, and/or scholarly articles to disseminate findings.
There will be opportunities to publish and/or co-publish research and present findings at regional and national conferences.
There may be opportunities to teach courses. This individual will interact with Belk Center faculty and graduate students in accomplishing our collective mission.
Support practice-based dissertations that respond to needs expressed by community college and system leaders to improve student success.
Develop and review IRB applications and obtain approval for research.
Coordinate (as needed) and attend meetings with researchers and practitioners regarding prospective research projects, data collection and analysis, and debriefing on findings.
Support the gathering and analyzing data, using statistical analysis software (e.g., SAS, Stata, R Atlas Ti., Dedoose, NVivo, etc.) when needed and collaborate with other researchers (e.g., graduate students, faculty researchers, PIs, etc.) as needed.
Ensure confidentiality and data security and adhere to all ethical norms associated with sound research practices.
Present research findings in various written forms (e.g., executive summaries, reports, and scholarly articles) in a timely manner.
Mentor and advise graduate student researchers.
Work with the Belk Leadership team and Director of Strategic Initiatives and External Relations to create consistent design to disseminate research in electronic and print formats.
