Assistant Teaching Professor - Higher Education
The School of Education at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) invites applicants for a full-time, non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor position beginning in August 2021. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing, diverse higher education administration program.
The Higher Education Administration graduate program faculty currently provide training with concentration in student affairs and higher education administration. We are especially interested in candidates whose training backgrounds include bridging research and practice.
The doctoral program emphasizes research mentorship, diversity, and graduate teaching. Our faculty have established records of scholarship in the areas of student affairs, residence life, and higher education. We aim to recruit applicants who will provide impactful instruction, and who will emphasize training graduate students to become productive and thoughtful practitioners.
The School of Education's Higher Education Administration programs include a Master of Education degree, a Doctor of Education degree, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree.
Program delivery includes face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats. Qualified applicants will be prepared to contribute to the teaching mission of the School of Education at the graduate level. The School of Education has approximately 700 students across six different program areas.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach and mentor students across programs.
- Direct action research studies.
- Demonstrate an understanding of cultural competence.
- Contribute to the mission of the university and profession through service activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
