College of Education Faculty - Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor (Two Positions)
The College of Education at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon, is seeking to hire two Clinical Assistant/Associate Professors to collaborate with members of the Education Studies (EDST) department, and across the faculty of the college and university to provide clinical instruction to students and supervisors of students in the Department of Education Studies MEd programs in Curriculum and Teaching (UOTeach) and the added endorsement programs in M.S. program in Curriculum and Teacher Education (CTEd). Faculty will have a commitment to excellence in teaching, mentoring, scholarship, working with underrepresented populations, and creating an inclusive environment for our increasingly diverse student body.

Our goal in the Department of Education Studies is to set our teacher candidates on career-long paths to purposeful, reflective, creative, and meaningful careers. Addressing issues such as inequities and racial injustice is the central thread for our majors and programs with a focus on critical and effective pedagogies. The clinical assistant/associate professor will advise and mentor licensure/graduate students in our MEd programs in Curriculum and Teaching (UOTeach), and MS in Curriculum and Teacher Education (CTEd).

  • Ability to teach a broad array of applied curriculum and teaching courses on topics such as clinical professional standards in a professional school, educational psychology, and subject area teaching methods courses aligned to professional credentials.

Minimum Qualifications for the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor:
  • Master’s degree or doctorate in education or related field
  • Demonstrated expertise, effective mentoring, teaching, and/or supervision in clinical/K-12 educational settings (e.g., having a leadership position in K-12, mentoring graduate students or recent graduates, teaching seminars/workshops; running support groups)
  • Documented experience and expertise in diversity and inclusion. Examples of experience and expertise include teaching, mentoring, advising, supervising, and supporting racial/cultural/linguistic/gender diverse preservice and/or in-service teachers.
  • Documented expertise in teacher education and educator preparation. Examples include curriculum and instruction faculty, instructional coaching, curriculum supervision, or other ongoing teacher training.
  • Demonstrated evidence of academic or clinical program leadership (e.g., practicum instruction and supervision, training practicum instructors/supervisors, developing and supervising a specialty clinic)
  • Graduation from a teacher licensure/certification program and licensed, or license eligible in Oregon.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in education or related field
  • Experience in clinical support of underrepresented (BIPOC and bilingual) teaching candidates or early career teachers
  • Three years of teaching experience in an educator preparation setting
  • Certification, licensure, endorsement, or other indication of significant special education training and experience
  • Experience in accreditation and adopted teacher assessment tools
