Director - National Survey of College Internships
The National Survey of College Internships (NSCI) is a new initiative of the Center for Research on College-Workforce Transitions (CCWT) launching in the Fall of 2021. The NSCI is a national survey-based study of college internships and work-based learning (WBL) intended to provide colleges and universities with high-quality, fine-grained data about college students' experiences with internships and WBL. The NSCI is currently in an 18-campus pilot study and is the first project of its kind in the world. The project aims to act as a national clearinghouse and service provider of internship and WBL data for the higher education community. While the NSCI is serving the needs of the entire higher education community with respect to data needs on work-based learning, the project is especially committed to working with Minority-Serving Institutions, community, and technical colleges, and regional comprehensive universities that serve most of our nation's working, low-income, first-generation and/or BIPOC students.

The NSCI Director will manage all staff working on the project, oversee client relations, manage the administration and operations of the survey itself, and provide oversight and quality control for the entire initiative. The Director will work closely with the project team to analyze data and prepare reports and data dashboards for participating institutions.

The Director will also act as the public face for the project, cultivate new partner institutions and other collaborators in the work on a national level as the project scales up from a small 18-campus project to a 100+ campus service, and oversee data dissemination activities via scholarly, practitioner and public outlets.

Requirements Required Qualifications:
 
  • Proven experience serving in a supervisory and managerial role of academic research and/or a complex project involving data collection and reporting across multiple locations
  • Proven experience working with online survey tools (e.g., Qualtrics), cleaning and managing quantitative data, and overseeing all aspects of survey administration from start to finish
  • Demonstrated experience engaging in advanced statistical analyses and psychometric testing of survey instruments
  • Professional experience preparing and writing research reports and papers conveying study results
  • Experience interacting with diverse partners and/or clients who reflect different institutional, disciplinary, professional, and cultural backgrounds
  • Experience creating and delivering high-quality, professional research and/or data presentations to diverse clients
  • Working knowledge of higher education issues and topics, preferably college-work or labor-market topics, student success, high-impact practices (HIPs), work-based learning and internships, or career development
  •  Experience overseeing, updating, and monitoring relational databases.

Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • Working knowledge of data dashboard creation and data visualization software and principles
  • Experience with Project Management principles and software (e.g., Teams, Monday.com)
  • Experience with programming languages such as LaTeX, R, or JavaScript.
