Visiting Assistant Professor in Higher Education and Student Affairs
The Ohio University Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education, Department of Counseling and Higher Education is accepting applications for a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track Visiting Assistant Professor position with expertise in higher education and/or student affairs. The position will begin August 16, 2021, and is located in Athens, Ohio.

The position requires teaching graduate courses in Higher Education, advising masters and doctoral students, and supporting our programs through research and service activities. Teaching responsibilities may involve the areas of Organization and Governance of Higher Education, Higher Education Policy, Higher Education Law, Faculty Issues, and Student Affairs. The appointee will be expected to maintain a strong record of scholarship, preferably with an emphasis on the areas of teaching responsibility. A number of courses will be taught to master's and doctoral cohort groups on the Athens and regional campuses. Candidate must be willing to teach in regionally-based cohort programs and/or other alternative program delivery models including the use of technology.

Required qualifications:
  • Earned doctorate in Higher Education, Student Affairs or a related field by 8/16/2021
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g., course evaluations) at the university level across one or more domains (e.g., face-to-face, online, executive format)
  • Evidence of scholarly activity (e.g. published articles, book chapters, books, and/or professional conference presentations)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Interested and qualified to teach one or more of the following areas: Organization and Governance, Policy, Leadership, Higher Education Law, and Student Affairs.
  • Evidence of commitment to mentoring and advising students, with varied interests and career aspirations.
