Reporting to the Associate Director of Institutional Research, the IR Data Analyst will support the data collection, validation, analysis and reporting for the Office of Institutional Research at SMU.
More specifically, this position will be involved in supporting the completion of federally mandated IPEDS reports and other required surveys such as the Common Data Set, U.S. News and World Report, AAUP, CUPA etc. accurately and in a timely fashion.
The position requires a detail-oriented individual who enjoys working with data.
Extract and Manage data for university wide reporting
Respond to mandated and recommended surveys
Conduct analysis of data and preparation of summary reports
Serve as a resource for other university wide school and/or departmental surveys and data analysis requests
Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in social sciences, information sciences, statistics or related discipline.
A minimum of two years’ of work experience in data analysis is required.
Previous experience working in higher education preferred.
One year experience in an institutional research or related office desirable.

Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills. A strong customer service orientation is essential.
Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. A strong attention to detail and accuracy are essential.
Candidate must have a strong knowledge of database structures and database querying tools. A strong working knowledge of MS Office is required. Experience with PeopleSoft is preferred.
