The mission of the Research & Equity Scholarship Institute (https://res-iste.sdsu.edu/; Director/PI: Felisha Herrera Villarreal, Ph.D.) at San Diego State University is to promote scientific and applied research, training, and the exchange of information that contribute to the knowledge and understanding of P-20 educational trajectories and the contexts that engage and support students from diverse backgrounds. We are accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with interests in STEM education, minority serving institutions, community college pathways, and quantitative expertise and/or mixed methods expertise.
The postdoctoral research position involves contributing to large scale, NSF funded, mixed-methods research projects focused on the role of Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs) in STEM pathways for students who began at community colleges, with a specific emphasis on racially minoritized and historically underrepresented students.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
management of ongoing funded projects;
coordination of the day-to-day operations of research studies;
development of research protocols;
support and coordinate data collection activities, and data management;
contributing to data analysis, manuscript writing, and dissemination and presentation of findings;
contributing to writing and submission of competitive proposals for funding;
mentorship and supervision of undergraduate and graduate student research assistants who contribute to all phases of the research process;
and providing feedback on employee progress and performance, training, and coaching.
