Professional Bio
                            Dr. Floyd’s career spans 50 years of higher education service as a professor, president, vice president & dean of students, assistant to a chancellor and a graduate dean.  For almost 25 years she has served Florida Atlantic as a faculty member specializing in higher education leadership.  Her publications include over 80 books, monographs, articles and chapters. She actively assists students and emerging scholars with publishing their works while serving as editor in chief of the Community College Journal of Research and Practice.  Dr. Floyd has served in many national leadership roles and received numerous national accolades – most recently induction into The American Association of Community Colleges Leadership Hall of Fame (2025), the ASHE Fellows (2025), and a Senior Scholar with the Council for the Study of Community Colleges (2022).  At Florida Atlantic in 2025, she received the President’s Leadership Award and the Faculty Talon Award. Her most prized award, she says, is being named by \students as the 2011 Florida Atlantic University Distinguished Teacher of the Year.  She established the Floyd Scholars Fund to support research and mentoring of Ph.D. students.  Further, in 2025 Dr. Floyd established an ASHE endowment to support graduate student travel and mentoring.
