Professional Bio

Dr. Andy J. Marx is the University Registrar at Clark University and brings a proven record of transformational leadership, empathy, and innovation in strengthening wraparound support services for students across a range of curricular, policy, and programmatic responsibilities. Extensive experience in the roles of registrar, instructor, and director of academic advising have informed a balanced approach between what is required in policy and procedure with a student’s capabilities at a particular moment in time. In an increasingly constrained resource environment, Dr. Marx helps institutions align the strategic and functional administration of academic operations, academic infrastructure, and institutional data systems through research, public speaking engagements, and leadership roles in AACRAO, ASHE, and other organizations.

Dr. Marx is a proud alum of the Higher Education Doctoral Program at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Recent research areas include financial aid and postsecondary student access, student financial wellness, and leadership development within higher education organizations. In collaboration with Amy Collinsworth, they established the ASHE Scholar-Practitioner Network (SPN), and spent the entity's first year finalizing bylaws, creating awareness and educational programming for the network, and managing the SPN's first elections. Dr. Marx earned his Master of Education in Policy, Planning, and Administration from the Wheelock College of Education and Human Development at Boston University. As an adjunct instructor at (and graduate of) the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Dr. Marx's current course examines the impact of policy on contemporary higher education. Past instructional areas include financial literacy, personal finance, and career development.
