Event Details
As the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE) prepares for the 2026 conference in San Juan, this year’s Council on International Higher Education (CIHE) Pre-Conference Keynote offers registered Pre-Con attendees and interested CIHE members the opportunity to engage with our annual keynote.
We are excited to welcome Dr. Philip G. Altbach and Dr. Hans de Wit as keynote speakers for the 2026 ASHE CIHE Pre-Conference. Together, they will offer a reflective and forward-looking conversation on the history, evolution, and future of international higher education, internationalization, and international students.
Drawing on decades of scholarship and leadership in the field, they will examine major historical developments, changing approaches to internationalization, and the challenges facing international higher education today, while considering what the field should protect, rethink, and pursue next. The session will include brief remarks from both speakers followed by a moderated conversation and audience Q&A.
