The ASHE Graduate Student Network (GSN) is seeking applications for the following three positions:

  • Professional Development Co-Coordinator (1 Co-Coordinator to serve a 2.5-year term, June 1, 2026-November 18, 2028): This team will plan, develop, and coordinate logistics for one breakout conference session in alignment with the annual theme, as well as the ASHE Grads Luncheon. The team plans approximately two virtual professional development sessions each semester outside of the annual conference. Additionally, the team will collaborate with other ASHE groups and higher education organizations to aggregate, curate, and share resources and networking opportunities for graduate students.

  • Marketing & Communications Co-Coordinator (1 Co-Coordinator to serve a 2.5-year term, June 1, 2026-November 18, 2028): This team will develop the communications and social media strategy and coordinate content for the ASHE Grads LinkedIn and Instagram accounts, including conference promotion (pre, during, and post), invitations for writing sessions, and content for the committee’s additional programs and initiatives. They will also be responsible for designing and producing marketing collateral (digital flyers, graphics, promotional materials, etc.). In addition, they will work closely with ASHE staff to update and maintain the ASHE Grads section of the ASHE website and to coordinate content for GSN and organization-wide newsletters.

  • Social and Networking Co-Coordinator (1 Co-Coordinator to serve a 2.5-year term, June 1, 2026-November 18, 2028): This team will coordinate the various social and networking events hosted by ASHE Grads throughout the year and during the annual conference. This includes writing sessions throughout the year, Conversations over Coffee, and other networking events for graduate students during the annual conference. The co-coordinators will also liaise with other professional membership organizations with graduate student community groups (e.g., AERA, AEFP, APPAM, etc.).

Note: The GSN will also be soliciting applications for our Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect (1.5-year term as Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect and a 1-year term as Chair). This person will be the Chair-Elect (September 1, 2026-November 20, 2026) and collaborate with the Chair to develop the Committee's yearly goals. In addition, the Vice Chair will provide one-on-one support to the Co-Coordinators and all three respective committees. The Vice Chair will meet with other graduate student leaders within the Association (e.g., Graduate Student Board Members, CEP Graduate Student Rep, CIHE Graduate Student Liaison, etc.). Lastly, this person will assist in implementing recruitment efforts and with the operations of new leadership. This position is elected through the annual ASHE election cycle.

Application Timelines and Types

Current ASHE Graduate Student Members may apply for Co-Coordinator and Chair-Elect positions this spring—we welcome candidates to apply for any roles that interest them across selection types.

The Co-Coordinator roles are selected by the GSN, with appointments made in May. The Chair-Elect position is determined through the annual ASHE election cycle (summer 2026), with applications opening in April 2026.

If a student is selected as a Co-Coordinator but is later elected Chair-Elect, they will automatically assume the Chair-Elect role. In this case, the Co-Coordinator position will be offered to an alternate candidate.

Applying for both position types will not negatively affect or disadvantage a candidate’s chances of being selected for either role. Additionally, students may apply for multiple Co-Coordinator roles that align with their interests using the same application, and will equally be considered for all roles.

Time Commitment

The commitment is, on average, 5 hours per month.

  • The GSN Leadership will meet monthly (or as needed) and bi-weekly as we approach the ASHE Annual Conference.

  • Work outside of these meetings will vary depending on the position/committee. The committees will meet monthly (or as needed) as we approach the ASHE Annual Conference.

Preferred Qualifications

Members of the Committee must:

  • Be Graduate Student members of the Association in good standing throughout their term in office

  • Agree to uphold the policies of the Association, including the Conflict of Interest Policy and ethics policies (including appropriate disclosure)

  • Appropriate experience or interest in their respective position:

    • Chair/Vice-Chair: Experience providing leadership and vision to community members.

    • Professional Development Co-Coordinators & Social and Networking Co-Coordinators: Experience programming and networking; familiarity with the ASHE Conference.

    • Marketing & Communications Co-Coordinator: Experience with web and social media, familiarity with social media tools; Canva and/or Graphic Design.

Compensation

This is a volunteer position; no compensation is provided.
