Organization Overview

The Higher Education Administration (HIED) program at Georgia Southern University is dedicated to fostering a learner-centered culture that prepares reflective educators who think critically, lead with purpose, teach effectively, and serve diverse learners within postsecondary education. In alignment with the university’s values of collaboration, academic excellence, discovery and innovation, integrity, openness, inclusion, and sustainability, the HIED program bridges theory and practice to cultivate scholars and leaders in higher education. We strive to promote talent and economic development by enhancing the quality of life within higher education through scholarly pursuits, cultural enrichment, and community engagement.

Our program, consisting of 36 semester hours, provides an accessible, relevant, and broad-based foundation in higher education organization, structure, administration, and governance. We prepare administrators to facilitate positive and effective instructional programs that incorporate the rights and meet the varied needs of all students in diverse and complex postsecondary institutions. Additionally, we aim to develop leaders for ethical leadership and resource management, equipping them to address the evolving challenges of higher education. Our success is measured by the global impact of our graduates, who uphold professional standards, advance higher education, and respond to the needs of both local and global communities.
