Professional Bio
Raissa Simpson is a first year doctoral student in the Leaders for Equity and Democracy (LEAD) program at the Berkeley School of Education. Raissa’s research focuses on examining non-traditional epistemologies through embodied pedagogy in higher education. By analyzing arts education, Raissa’s dissertation traces transformative leadership through a mixed methods arts-based research approach. Before joining UC Berkeley, she received a BFA from Purchase Conservatory of Dance in New York, and an MFA from the University of California, Davis. Raissa is currently a faculty member in the Department of Theater and Performance Studies (TAPS) at Stanford University.
