Professional Bio
Travis T. York, Ph.D., is the Director of the Center for STEMM Education & Workforce at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). His work focuses on driving systemic change to expand access and inclusion across STEMM education and careers. He leads a portfolio of 20+ national initiatives—such as the STEMM Opportunity Alliance, S-STEM Resources & Evaluation Center, and Exemplary Pathway Partnerships—and a team of 30 professionals. As Principal Investigator, Dr. York has secured more than $70 million in funding and currently oversees major projects including AAAS Noyce, EPSCoR Hub, and ARISE initiatives. A nationally recognized thought leader, he has authored over 30 scholarly publications and delivered more than 50 keynotes and presentations. Dr. York also serves on multiple advisory boards, including at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. A South Carolina native, he holds a Ph.D. from Penn State University and studied at Geneva College and Oxford University’s Keble College.
