2025 ASHE Presidential Commission on Responding to and Reshaping Higher Education Policy

ASHE 2025 President Eboni Zamani-Gallaher is proud to announce the launch of the 2025 Presidential Commission on Responding to and Reshaping Higher Education Policy. This timely initiative has been established to critically engage with the rapidly evolving—and increasingly contested—landscape of higher education policy at both the federal and state levels.

About the Commission

As higher education faces mounting challenges, this commission will serve as a platform for meaningful dialogue, strategic visioning, and collective action. From widespread resistance to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts and Critical Race Theory (CRT), to increasing restrictions on LGBTQ+ rights, reductions in funding for minoritized communities, attacks on faculty autonomy, and the growing complexity of administrative leadership—our aim is to thoughtfully address these realities with urgency and purpose.

Commission Members Commitments

Commission members will play a vital role in shaping the direction and impact of this initiative. Responsibilities include:

  • Participate in Virtual Meetings
  • Engage with and Moderate ASHE Webinars
  • Co-facilitate Working Groups
  • Collaborate to Draft a Comprehensive Report
  • Co-facilitate an ASHE Presidential Session

Why This Matters

The 2025 Presidential Commission on Responding to and Reshaping Higher Education Policy represents a bold and necessary step in confronting today’s higher education policy challenges. It is an opportunity to amplify research, elevate practice, and advocate for equity-focused policy reform. By contributing your insights and leadership, you can help reshape the future of higher education in ways that are just, inclusive, and transformative.
